Accessibility Statement

Last updated: April 2026

NEXO is committed to making clinical reasoning training accessible to all healthcare students and professionals, regardless of ability.

Our Commitment

We strive to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards for both our iOS app and this website.

iOS App Accessibility Features

  • VoiceOver: Full VoiceOver support with descriptive labels for all interactive elements, clinical clues, and game feedback.
  • Dynamic Type: Text scales with the system font size setting. All screens adapt to larger accessibility sizes.
  • Dark Mode: Full dark mode support that respects system preferences, with sufficient contrast ratios in both themes.
  • Reduce Motion:Animations respect the system "Reduce Motion" preference.
  • Color Independence: Game feedback (ICD-10 proximity levels) uses both color and text labels so that color-blind users can fully participate.
  • Touch Targets: All interactive elements meet the minimum 44x44pt touch target size recommended by Apple Human Interface Guidelines.
  • Keyboard Navigation: Supported via external keyboard or Switch Control.

Website Accessibility

  • Semantic HTML structure with proper heading hierarchy
  • Sufficient color contrast ratios (minimum 4.5:1 for normal text)
  • Responsive design that works across screen sizes and zoom levels
  • Alt text for meaningful images
  • No auto-playing media

Known Limitations

  • Some clinical case content may include medical abbreviations that screen readers may not pronounce as intended. We are working on improving pronunciation hints.
  • The leaderboard scrolling experience with VoiceOver may require additional gestures for efficient navigation.
